  • Thursday 26th My 6pm

    Thu 26 May 2016

We have had exactly the right weather for our ‘mountain’ walk today. It was warm, but not sunny, so no chance of us finding the sun too hot or getting wet! The mountain walk went without a hitch. The children were superb, listening to the instructions on how to be safe and coping extremely well. In fact we have agreed that this has been one of the most successful walks we remember.

The children thought the way down would be the easiest part, but were surprised when they realised that going down is actually hard work! We were very lucky as when we reached Ilam, the ice-cream van was there and we could all enjoy a ‘Mr Whippy’ ice-cream with a flake – a favourite with many of us! The ice-cream van lady commented on how polite and patient the children were as she enjoyed her first experience of serving 40 people queuing for an ice-cream.

This afternoon, after a nice session of outside games time, we all split for a scavenger hunt and an egg rocket making session where the children have made ‘rockets’ from lemonade bottles for an egg to travel in when it is launched into the air. The idea is that the egg doesn’t break when the bottle lands! The launch will be tomorrow morning before we leave – we can’t wait to see whose egg will survive the launch when the bottle goes at least 30 metres.

Tonight we have our evening activities of beaded ghekos and indoor archery before enjoying a piece of birthday cake. The children have made my birthday very special today and it was lovely getting some cards from them this morning – thank you. I have enjoyed their guesses as to how old I am – how I wish they were right!!

    Good morning!

The children went to bed very sensibly last night and we all had a great night’s sleep. Funnily enough, we had much later waking up times this morning! We are all ready for our big breakfast before going on our hill walk which all the children are very excited about.

We are just finding missing socks and enjoying a joke telling session, the best one being ‘A book called Pains in the Night was written by Henrietta Greenapple!’

Anyway over and out for now and we will update later.

  • Kwik Cricket Tournament

Wed 25 May 2016 Kate Morton

Today Park entered a Year 5/6 team into the qualifying rounds of a Kwik Cricket competition, held at Wollaston Cricket Club. There were 4 groups, with the winners of each playing against each other to qualify for the County Finals in June.

Park got off to a flying start, beating Freemans B.  We scored 307 compared to their 198. The second match against Irthlingborough Juniors was much closer and caused some nail biting moments!  It all came down to the last over. However, due to some superb bowling and batting, Park came out on top and won by 12 runs.  The third match was against Little Harrowden, which we won, this time by 26 runs.

This meant that we qualified for the semi finals against Earls Barton.  It was a tough start with some excellent bowling by the opposition.  But the skill of the Park team shone through and they won the match convincingly in the end (253 to 195).  Due to time constraints we were unable to play the final to find the overall winner but as the top 2 teams qualify for the County finals, we made it through (along with Finedon).

The proudest part was when Park was given the Teamwork award which is voted for by the Young Leaders.  It was thoroughly deserved as all 10 players showed respect and teamwork throughout.

    Wed 25 May 2016

    Wednesday 25th May 6pm

We are just about to have dinner after a full day. The weather has just held with only a little drizzle and in fact this was good for our stepping stones walk. We enjoyed beautiful views as we made our way to the stepping stones enjoying the sight of new-born calves and lambs. The river was flowing normally so we could go across which was fabulous. The children all went across very sensibly and those who were a little unsure were very pleased with themselves when they reached the other side safely. After, we went to the ice cream kiosk and were given huge ice-creams for our money with the most amazing choice of flavours!

This morning we completed our orienteering in the grounds of the hall and some of us did the team challenge after whilst others the eco-art.

The children have really enjoyed their day and despite some tired legs they are looking forward to their evening activities of clay owls and indoor archery.

All the children have settled in well and have taken on board the new routines without any problem at all.

We look forward to another very successful night ahead of another action-packed day tomorrow.

    Wed 25 May 2016

What a great day we had yesterday! Even though we only arrived at midday we packed so much in with lovely weather. We finished off in the evening with some children making beaded ghekos and others making their clay owls.

After a good night’s sleep, we have enjoyed a fabulous cooked breakfast ready for all the activities we will be doing. We are due to go orienteering this morning around the Ilam hall grounds and in the afternoon we will be doing our eco-art/team challenge activity followed by the stepping stones walk.

There will be more photos and news this evening for you to enjoy so keep logging onto the website for the latest!

  • Playground Developments

    Wed 18 May 2016

You may have noticed a couple of recent playground developments in our school.  Firstly we have developed a new 'wildlife area' which contains an area to make a fire and sit around.  Also we have a new path to the bug hotel and new wild flowers growing.  We will be using this area for an area children will be doing some of their science lessons.

Also we have a new stage area for playtimes.  This area will be used by the children to perform songs and dances to their friends.  We are sure this area will also be used for staying out of the rain both by children and adults alike!
