Class 6HM

WELCOME TO 2024!!

We hope you have had a super winter break and are excited to return to school for another jam packed term. Whilst some of us might be super excited to return, we know that for others it might be a bit daunting to get back into a routine after a holiday off, but fear not, we shall all get through this together!

Our cracking classroom team continues to consist of myself (Miss Morris) and the wonderful Mrs Howes, and you shall continue to find yourself within your groups throughout the morning for all the usual lessons.

We are starting our new history unit on Benin. The Ancient kingdom of Benin is a unit which challenges our thoughts and understanding of several concepts.  The unit concentrates on the history from 900 - 1300AD when the kingdom was at the start of its rise to power and influence.  This is a period when stories, news and the way of life was passed through families through a rich and long tradition of storytelling.  There is little recorded evidence in either written or artistic form which means that much of the knowledge is hypothesis instead of fact.

Our next Science unit is called To Infinity. We will be exploring lots of different areas of the science curriculum, revisiting areas we have previously studied, developing our skills and progressing our understanding.

Further detail and information will be given in the newsletter which will find its way to you during the first week of term.

PE continues to be on a Tuesday & Friday

The children will continue to wear their PE kit to school. This is a white t-shirt, black shorts or black bottoms and trainers/plimsoles. No football tops are permitted. Where possible physical education lessons will be taking place outside although use of indoor PE is now permitted so please consider the weather when coming to school.

Homework is set weekly for English and Maths and is expected to be handed in by the Thursday having been handed out on the previous Friday. Homework will be set through teams. The idea of weekly tasks is preparing the children for the routine they will need to take on board in their secondary schools.

We shall also keep you up to date with any important dates throughout the term, but if you need anything then please do not hesitate to get in touch with either myself of Mrs Howes on the playground at the end of the school day.

Here’s to another great year!
