School Council
At Park Junior School we believe it is important for the children to feel part of the school community and have representatives who can feedback and help in some decision making. Weekly meetings enable children from different year groups to communicate with one another and hear about the goings on from across the school.
Each class now has a suggestions box which is brought to each meeting. The School Council then discuss these and decide which need to be taken further and which can be sorted out in class. So far this year the student council have brought back equipment being used at lunchtime, different lunch sittings and are in the process of organising an end of year disco!
Children who wish to be a School Council representative apply to their class. In Years 4, 5 and 6 this is done by letter stating why they believe they would be good at the job. In Year 3 the children present their reasons vocally. The children then vote who they would like their rep to be. Each year the year 6 reps get the jobs of Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chair.
We have had lots of success over the past few years and believe the children can achieve great things.
