Thursday 25th May

Thursday 25th May

We had another great breakfast this morning and then finished our craft activities from last night which worked well as we didn't want the children out in the sun for too long.

We then went on the long awaited 'mountain walk'. We took it stage by stage but the children managed extremely well up quite a steep part of the walk. Once at the top, we were rewarded with amazing views and for the first time in years it wasn't even windy! The children couldn't believe how small Ilam Hall looked and how small all the cattle, sheep and houses were in the valley below. The way down was also challenging as we navigated a steep field, but everyone took on board the advice given on how to walk down safely and all children did a great job of it!

Once back at the hall, we had lunch and a good session of games on the field. We went into the afternoon activities of egg rocket building and we were very impressed at how well the children worked together on their rocket designs. Tomorrow the 'rockets' with eggs attached will be launched into the air and we will see which ones have an egg that survives the landing!

We are now having our film night with our pillows and teddies and enjoying some down time -  a really nice way to finish our last day.

We will be leaving Ilam at 2:15pm tomorrow with the expectation of arriving back at 4:15pm ish however we will keep the school updated of our arrival time and you will get parent mails informing you of when we expect to arrive back at school and of any changes due to traffic as the journey progresses. The Friday afternoon before a half term is always unpredictable, but hopefully we will have a smooth journey.

We have had an amazing trip and all the children have managed extremely well. They are very much looking forward to telling all about what they have done and showing you everything they have made.

Thank you for all your support in kitting out the children with all the things that have been so necessary, especially hats and sun cream, which has enabled them to have a fun and safe time away.
