Welcome to Park Junior School!
We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils.
Park Junior School gets it name from being originally built on a 'park' back in Victorian times. It has been educating children in the town of Wellingborough since 11th August 1873 and has been a wealth of types of schools including a Secondary Modern School for Girls from 1953 - 1968. We have been a Junior School since 1968.
The school has 8 classes (Years 3 - 6) with around 30 children in each class. We have 240 children in our school. We also have a Designated Special Provision for children with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties.
It is very important to us that we work together with the whole school community; our vision statement being 'together we make a difference'. We are dedicated to ensuring that every single child within our school is inspired to develop intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially to fulfil their vast potentials.
The school has many modern elements despite being within a Victorian building. We have a very large hall which most classrooms lead off. We have a permanent stage that is used for a wealth of productions throughout the year. The ICT suite has recently been upgraded to include a new server and two new laptops trollies. Two years ago the school had two new classrooms built which we use for our Year 6 children and the front garden area, which is on a nautical theme, is looked after by the children themselves. We have a field and large playgrounds with a large range of outdoor play equipment.
We very much welcome parents/carers into our School, believing we are partners in the education of your child. There are many opportunities for parents/carers to be involved in the work of the school and to gain a greater understanding of our work. Parents’ time and expertise can be used in many ways in school and is greatly valued.
There are many opportunities for parents throughout the year to come into school. In the last year we have had parents’ evenings, curriculum evenings, residential and visits meetings, progress meetings, sex and relationship education information evenings, performing arts and musical events. We also hold events for parents during the school day including class assemblies, health community events, sports day, community afternoon teas and other musical performances by the children.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have.
Thank you for visiting!
