Welcome to 3KY's class page!!
Welcome back to the Summer term! We can’t believe how quickly the school year has gone so far but are looking forward to all of the exciting opportunities that the Summer terms bring including sports day, swimming lessons and our new music topic on Opera in collaboration with the Royal Ballet and Opera House.
This term we will be learning about the Anglo-Saxons, where we will explore the arrival of the Anglo-Saxons, their settlements, culture, art and village life.
The final term will be a Geography unit where we look at recycling and sustainability in our local area and Europe. We will research and understand the effects of waste on the environment and learn why it is important to recycle. They will learn to recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things, whilst understanding that the Earth’s resources are finite.
Science is focusing on Plants – and the area of Structure, Growth and Transport of Water. Then, after half-term, they will finish with Flowers and Life Cycle of Plants.
PE days this term will be on Thursday and Friday. In the final term, our Thursday PE session will change to swimming. We will complete 5 weeks of swimming lessons. The children, once assessed, will be either learning to swim or refining their swimming skills in the pool at Waendal Leisure Facility each Thursday afternoon. The children will be given all the information they need closer to the time.
Please ensure children to come to school in their PE kit (black shorts or bottoms, a white t-shirt and trainers) on these days. No football shirts are to be worn. Please can you make sure that no jewellery is worn on these days and that long hair is tied up.
As always, if you have any concerns or questions, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
