We have had a great first day at Ilam! The coach journey was very smooth with no children feeling ill and lots of excitement as the hills appeared and the many sheep and their lambs were to be seen. The coach driver complemented the children on being such brilliant passengers!
Before lunch, we had a walk around the hall gardens where the children became used to dodging the inevitable sheep droppings or not, to the amusement of the group! As expected, this was the highlight of the walk! We had our lunch looking over the stunning scenery and then prepared to go on our stepping stones walk. When we got there they were open, which was very exciting and we all made it across and back. Some of the children were a little nervous but showed their true resilience by going over and feeling very pleased with themselves afterwards.
Dinner was lovely and the chocolate fudge cake was a real hit! After dinner we had a good chunk of free time out in the field and we are now doing a craft activity to finish off the evening.
The children were very excited about going into their bedrooms this evening and have organised themselves very well. They are looking forward to their first night and waking up for a full day tomorrow after a delicious breakfast!
