Thursday 23rd April

Thursday 23rd April

Good morning everyone. Don’t forget about staying active whilst you are at home! Get that blood pumping with some daily exercise!

Your tasks for today are:

English: Your English for today is to read the passage ‘Let’s go for a swim’ and answer the compare and contrast questions based on these. Make sure that when you answer them you use evidence from the text to support your answer. Remember POINT, EVIDENCE, EXPLANATION. As an extension you could create the poster to remind people about water safety.

Maths: Your Maths today is to continue with our work on fractions. Your work is attached and the crib sheet gives you links and extra information to help you.

Topic: After Easter we were due to start our new topic of Where We Began. Your topic for today is based on time zones. Take a look at the PowerPoint which provides you with a great deal of detail about time zones and how the Earth is split up. Then take a look at the task document and work through either Basic, Advancing or Deep.

Have a great day,

Miss Morris & Mr Fordham

Brain Teaser:

The answer to the brain teaser yesterday was: His son!

Your brain teaser for today is: As I was going to St. Ives, I met a man with seven wives. Each wife had seven sacks. Each sack had seven cats. Each cat had seven kittens. Kittens, cats, sacks and wives. How many were going to St. Ives?

Fact of the day:

Did you know peanuts aren’t actually nuts? Botanically, nuts are specifically hard-shelled fruits or seeds with an interior kernel protected by a shell or rind. Most true nuts grow on trees. Peanuts are actually legumes, more closely related to peas or lentils than true nuts.
