Safeguarding Information
Family Support Worker
At Park Junior School we want all our children to feel secure, happy, safe and proud. My role as the school's Family Support Worker and Mental Health Lead is to support families. I am here to help families overcome any issues they may be experiencing and help identify and support any barriers to learning and achieving they may have.
Here are some of the areas you or your child can come and chat with me about;
- successes and achievements of you or your child in or out of school
- support for bereavement, divorce, domestic abuse and trauma
- financial difficulties and housing advice
- school attendance and emotional based school avoidance support
- parenting advice and guidance to support behaviours and routines at home
- mental health and wellbeing for both parents and children
- continence, eating, and sleep issues
- Young Carers support
- referrals to counselling agencies
The family room is a comfortable and relaxed informal area including toys and activities to entertain younger siblings. It is situated in a private area of the school always ensuring confidentiality. If this is not convenient, I am available for home visits.
I am able to offer Early Help support for families. Early Help creates a support plan and actions for schools and home to work towards, ensuring home and school environments encourage all students to flourish.
I am also a Mental Health Lead and Mental Health First Aider. Our school works very closely with the Mental Health Support Team. They offer support for low intensity anxieties before they progress into more serious concerns. We have had many children use the service. This is what some of them have said;
“ before I was scared of everything, now I can’t think of anything I am scared of ”
“ I couldn’t go on escalators or slides before but now I don’t worry about them, I am really happy ”
“ Lorraine really helped me, I didn’t know everyone felt nervous sometimes, she showed me ways to calm my nerves and gave me a diary and a calm box ”
Please refer to the table below for some of the services you can access for support. Please do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I can do referrals for your family or help you access agencies for self-referrals. You can contact me on 01933 273273 or nkutscherauer@park-jun.northants.sch.uk
