We had a good night last night and the children were very sensible. Our hearty breakfast set us up for the day and we went on to have some free time on the field, tuck shop time and we had a lovely games session this morning. The children really play very well together and it was lovely seeing them play Uno, Snakes and Ladders and Ludo together so nicely.
Our morning activities were indoor archery and team games. We split the group into two and each half carried out one activity each and then they swapped. There were some amazing shots in the archery with a few bullseyes and what struck us most was how much the children got the hang of it and there were some great scores! Congratulations to Mia who was the top scorer in archery.
After lunch we went on our hill walk. The weather was perfect with it being dry and warm but not too hot. The children found the climb very hard work but they all managed well and were amazed at the view from the top. On a day like today you could see for miles!
The climb down was just as challenging as the climb up but we all got home safe and sound feeling a great sense of achievement.
The children have just had showers and are now back to enjoying some chill time with their friends playing games or colouring quietly. They love these sessions. After dinner tonight we will carry on with our craft groups and enjoy making some things to bring home.
Tomorrow we have some more crafts and egg rocket making and launching. We are expecting it to be hot and have a lovely last day. We will be leaving Ilam at around 2:30 - 3pm and aim to arrive at school at around 5pm traffic permitting. We will update you on parentmail as the journey progresses.
This group of children have been a joy to take away and every single person has given their all on the trip. They have been full of smiles and loved every minute; they have also been the best listeners ever which has meant that we have had a thoroughly successful few days. I have really enjoyed getting to know this group and all the staff can only sing the praises of these year 4s!
