Monday 13th September
What a great first day! We had a smooth coach journey with some magnificent views of the hills and then the sea on the way. We stopped at Harlech for lunch and went to the castle which, despite the welsh drizzle, looked amazing! As promised, we all ran (or walked!) up the 'steepest hill in the world' and went to the shop to buy ice creams as we recovered.
Afterwards, we drove onwards to our accommodation and had the excitement of going to our rooms that will be home for the week. The ensuite for each room is very much a bonus.
This evening we had homemade pizza and icecream for tea and then we dressed in our outdoor clothes and shoes to walk down to the beach. It was a long walk but we were all looking forward to seeing the beach and weren't disappointed - it was a beautiful sandy beach with little rock pools to investigate, where quite a few children found little crabs scurrying around. As we enjoyed the beach, the dark descended upon us and we then had the exciting walk back in the dark with torches.
After a hot chocolate, it was bedtime and all the children have gone to sleep very quickly without any problems.
We have been highly impressed at how wonderful all the children have been. They have embraced all that we have done and it has been a full itinerary from the moment we have arrived. They have been very settled and have gone to bed looking forward to tomorrow's activities.
