HAPPY NEW YEAR 5DF!
Firstly I would like to take the opportunity to say hello to everyone. It has been a fantastic first few weeks here for me at Park Junior School. 5DF have been working hard and showing me how great their behaviour can be.
Our topic this term is "Seven Worlds, One Planet" inspired by the BBC programme. We will focus on the importance of our impact on the planet and what we can do, this topic hopes to give the children with the opportunity to explore this themselves.
Our first science unit is materials and their properties, in particular, solids, liquids and gases. The children will be enthused to investigate a variety of materials, discovering whether they are absorbent, the firmness and many other exciting possibilities. We are working on our questioning skills and being given the opportunities to discover answers for ourselves as well as researching on the internet and in text. This subject will link to our English when we look at the scientists who discovered about materials and forces.
We continue with Badminton in PE on a Monday afternoon and our second session is on a Wednesday morning, but it is always good to have kits in school at all times in case it is needed.
5DF community tea - Friday 24th January.
If there is anything that you need to discuss please do not hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Lenton on the playground at the end of the day.
I look forward to meeting you at community tea and to a great term ahead.

Welcome to 5SM
We would like to welcome you all to a new and exciting school year in 5SM. We have a lot of things to look forward to this year, starting very quickly with our swimming sessions. These begin on Tuesday 10th September so children will need to have their swimming kit and towel in school every Tuesday from this date. Our first topic is the Ancient Egyptians, which is always an engaging topic for the children.
Our additional PE session this term, alongside swimming, will be on a Wednesday. Children must ensure they have the correct kit, including a change of shoes, in school on this day.
We look forward to keeping you up to date with all our learning during this term.
