Welcome to the 4LB/KY class page!
The term will begin with place value in maths including learning about decimals and fractions. Times tables is hugely important and we will continue to put a real emphasis on the children learning these.
In our English sessions we will be reading the book ‘The Flood’ to enable us to improve our journalistic writing skills.
Our linked learning topic this term is based on the topic 'Raging Waters' and involves us learning all about rivers, seas and oceans around the world. We will use maps and atlases to help with this. The sinking of the Titanic is covered as a historical element of our learning, which is always hugely interesting for us all. We are so lucky to have such exciting topics to get stuck into!
Year 4 will start their weekly swimming lessons this term, every Monday afternoon. Please ensure the children have their swimming kit on this day. To make sure we can have the most time in the pool, it would be appreciated if children could not wear jewellery on that day as we only have a short amount of time to get changed (tights for girls always cause a few problems too!). In addition to this, we will continue with our gymnastics sessions on a Wednesday for the next five weeks.
Homework will continue to be set every Wednesday and is due back the following Monday. We really appreciate your support with this.
Thank you for all of your continued support. As always, if you have any queries or questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of the 4LB/KY team.
Mrs Bazeley, Mrs Young and Mrs Hobbs.
